Aladdin Systems is now shipping StuffIt Express Enterprise Edition for the Mac and Windows platforms.
Designed as a business automation solution, it allows users, via wizards, to set up a customer-specific “Express Box” that’s designed to tackle all aspects of Internet/Intranet data delivery tasks, including data compression, encryption, uploading files to password-protected FTP sites, and e-mailing notification. Express boxes can also be created and sent to customers so that returning or sending files to the business is simplified.
For most businesses, compressing files is merely one step in a long, more complicated, file transfer process, according to the folks at Aladdin. StuffIt Express takes file transfer communication further by automating the complete transaction of compressing and sending files for customers. StuffIt Express reduces the number of steps involved and lets you create custom data delivery and communication solutions that adapt as the customer relationship changes or grows, Aladdin said.
It offers the option of executing tasks at scheduled times, such as evenings when network traffic is lower. StuffIt Express Enterprise Edition also provides a number of security features. For example, you can create and send Express Boxes that give customers limited access to designated secure areas of FTP sites. The boxes can also be configured to expire after a specific date, or after being used a certain number of times.
StuffIt Express Enterprise Edition is available online. Currently, two versions of the software are available for Macintosh. One is for users running Mac OS 8.6 – 9.x. The other is for users running Mac OS X. The drop boxes that you create with either version of StuffIt Express Enterprise Edition will run natively on Mac OS X, and will also work on Mac OS 8.6 and later. When you purchase the product, you’ll receive an installer for each.
StuffIt Express Enterprise Edition is sold by license according to number of users (5, 10, 25, 50 and unlimited) with prices ranging from US $399.95 to $2,499.95.
