MindVision Software has released Installer VISE 8.0 for Mac OS X. The Installer VISE builder has been completely updated to be a Carbonized application. Installer VISE 8.0 runs native with an Aqua interface on Mac OS X, while maintaining full compatibility with Mac OS 9, according to the folks at MindVision.
Version 8.0 also lets you let you create Mac OS X application bundles; there are more Mac OS X install locations available for assigning to archive items; the Gestalt checks have been updated to reference recent operating system platforms; there’s a new external code sample for adding an item to the Dock; and to extend Installer VISE’s integration with the eSellerate e-commerce system, eSellerate-powered installers can now send the following information during the purchase process: Tracking ID, Affiliate ID and Coupon ID.
The Installer VISE 8.0 builder requires Mac OS 9.1 or greater (with CarbonLib 1.5 or greater installed) or Mac OS X 10.1 or greater. Installer compatibility ranges from System 7.0 through Mac OS X, depending on the platform selected for the installer build.
Fully-functional copies of Installer VISE 8.0 are available for downloading from the MindVision Web site. Customers with current annual licenses are eligible to receive this upgrade for free. Others can find licensing information through the MindVision Web site.
Fractured Software has released version 1.05 of ZegsRuler 1.05, a set of classes that enable you to add all sorts of rulers and scales to your REALBasic project. ZegsRuler supports the common requirements of scaling (zooming), scrolling and changing of the origin, as well as control over line length, width and color, background color, text, etc. It comes with five built-in styles (which can be modified) to get you started, as well as extensive documentation and example projects.
This new version has beefed-up protection against low memory situations, updated examples and some internal changes to make it easier to draw the ruler into any graphics object. A fully functional demo of ZegsRuler is available at the Fractured Software Web site. It costs US$15 or US$25 for the source code with free unlimited upgrades.

Troi Automatisering has released Troi File Plug-in 2.5 for FileMaker Pro 5.5. The new plug-in lets you manipulate your files and folders and use file and folder information directly from your FileMaker Pro databases. According to MacTech magazine , some of the new functions and features include the ability to substitute text in a file, where the result is saved in the original file; find the path to the FileMaker application; import MP3 files and store only a reference; and work with IPTC data from more files (especially files with a slightly different IPTC format, including Photoshop 6)
A fully functional version of Troi File Plug-in 2.5 is available for downloading at Troi’s Web site. Troi File Plug-in 2.5 works with FileMaker Pro 5 and later. The plug-in is available for Mac OS 9.0.4 or later, including Mac OS X (10.1 or higher). Licenses cost $49 per user. Product updates from version 2.0 and later are free; upgrades from older versions are available from $19 per user. RBulk Builder, a batch building companion for REALbasic, has been updated to version 1.2.8. With it, you can automatically launch different builds, changing the name, platform, language and even constant values for each one. It’s designed for people that need to build many different binaries (different platforms, localized, demo/light versions, etc.) from a single source project file.
Version 1.2.8 fix a bug on Classic launching RBulk with REALbasic already opened. It also adds code debugging features. RBulk is free and open source.
