The 1394 Trade Association, an international organization dedicated to the advancement and proliferation of the FireWire standard, will hold its third quarter general meeting in Montreal from July 10-12 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
The meeting will be sponsored by Mindready Solutions, a supplier of test engineering, manufacturing automation and real-time communications solutions. On May 24, the association and Apple announced that the group would officially adopt Apple’s FireWire trademark, logo and symbol as a brand identity for IEEE 1394.
“Apple is delighted that the 1394 Trade Association has decided to adopt FireWire as a brand identity,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “This is yet another significant sign that FireWire momentum continues to build in the marketplace.”
The third quarter meeting of the 1394 Trade Association will include work group sessions designed to expand and enhance the FireWire standard for a wide range of home networking, audio-video, computer and automotive applications.
A reception and news conference for the regional electronics and business media is now scheduled for Friday July 12, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Ritz-Carlton. It will include a series of presentations and news announcements about the new FireWire logo, new FireWire-equipped products and new standards development.
