Shareware developer Ben Mackin has released Cocoa eFax 0.9.6, a US$5 application that can send and receives faxes using a variety of internal and/or external fax modems.
Cocoa eFax offers optional coversheet support, with the ability to create your own coversheets. It supports a wide variety of modems, “more than FaxSTF supports, everything from Apple Internal modems, to old Global Village serial modems” Mackin said. Received faxes are saved as PDF files, which can be viewed and printed in Acrobat Reader, or the Mac OS X Preview application.
“Once Apple releases Mac OS X 10.2, and the APIs [application programming interfaces] regarding the address book, Cocoa eFax will then be able to make use of the main OS X address book, for even easier sending of faxes,” Mackin said.
Visit the Cocoa eFax Web site for more information and download links. Prior to payment, Cocoa eFax allows for unlimited receiving and five sends. After this, no more sending of faxes is allowed until the app is registered.
