PhotoPress — a photo printing utility previously published by Electric Fish — has found a new publisher and developer, and has had a new version released.
PhotoPress is now being published by A Sharp, a company best known to Mac users as the creators of King of Dragon Pass, an unusual role-playing adventure game based on the popular RuneQuest pen-and-paper gaming series. A Sharp today announced the release of a new version of PhotoPress, 1.0.2.
Unlike Apple’s popular iPhoto application, PhotoPress is not a digital image management application. Instead, PhotoPress is specialized as an image printing utility with advanced features. It features drag and drop importing of digital photos with quick and simply layout choices to help optimize your use of your printer’s photo paper. Your images can be labeled in various ways, too. PhotoPress also features a zoom and crop tool that works in a single step. The software permits file renaming, preview creation and Finder icon creation.
A Sharp president David Dunham said that his company is happy to have obtained PhotoPress, and plans continue to improve upon it. “Our users say that PhotoPress is a great companion to Apple’s iPhoto,” said Dunham.
The new version of PhotoPress, 1.0.2, is a free upgrade for all registered users. A new “Fixed-3” layout has been added to this version, and a problem involving the Page Options dialog running on Swiss systems has been corrected.
Distributed as US$22.95 shareware, a 30-day trial version of PhotoPress is available for download from A Sharp’s Web site. The software runs on Mac OS 8.6 or later, and runs natively on Mac OS X.
