If you’re an avid iMovie hobbyist and you’re interested in adding new special effects to your movie editing capabilities, you’ll be interested in a new offering from Virtix Inc. called Pan & Scan for iMovie.
Pan & Scan contains ten special effects that enable you to move back and forth between portions of a video clip. With the new Virtix collection, you can move across an image at a constant speed, or speed up at the beginning and slow down at the end of the panning motion. It also contains effects to hold the position ad the beginning and end of a pan. One effect combines other effects too. Each effect includes versions optimized for clips with motion and still clips.
Virtix said that the algorithms it uses operate at 60 fields per second, guaranteeing you’ll have smooth motion. Motion blur is integrated as well, so you’ll have a realistic look to your panning effects.
Effects include Pan, Pan Gentle, Pan Switch, Pan Start and Pan End. Each effect incorporates a numeric interface so that pans on split clips can be matched seamlessly using the Pan Start and Pan End effects.
You can buy Virtix Pan & Scan for iMovie now for US$19.99; the software is available for download from Virtix’s Web site. The software requires iMovie 2.1.1 for Mac OS X.
