At long last, the Mac-only online gaming service GameRanger is available for Mac OS X. Perth, Australia-based GameRanger Technologies today announced the introduction of a preview release of the new software.
Up until now, GameRanger users have been able to play games online and chat with each other using GameRanger and Mac OS X, but GameRanger has been limited to use as a Classic application. This new preview release has been rewritten from the ground up for Mac OS X, complete with Aqua interface and other embellishments. Mac OS 8.6 and higher remain supported, as well.
GameRanger provides Mac users with an easy way to find each other online for quick pick-up sessions of their favorite multiplayer online games. More than 90 titles are supported, including most of the popular commercial and shareware games available for the Mac platform. Highlights include Age of Empires II, Aliens Vs Predator, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Stronghold and many more. Additionally, GameRanger provides tracking services for many popular cross-platform titles like Quake III Team Arena, Unreal Tournament, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and more.
GameRanger was first launched more than two years ago, and now sports more than 80,000 registered members.
