Microsoft Corp.’s Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU) today announced the release of Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac OS X.
The update includes a number of enhancements that make the browsing experience better for customers using Mac OS X, according to the MacBU. For example, using Quartz text smoothing, Internet Explorer 5.2 now provides smooth display of text, making Web sites easier to read.
“We’ve had overwhelming response from customers using our products for the Mac and remain committed to building the best software solutions on the Mac platform,” said Kevin Browne, general manager of the Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft. “We think people will be extremely pleased with the new rendering abilities of Internet Explorer. Our goal is to continue to provide the best browser available for the Mac platform.”
System requirements for Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac OS X include: Macintosh Power PC; Mac OS X version 10.1 or later (for Quartz text smoothing to work, users need version 10.1.5 or higher); 128MB of RAM; 19.8MB available hard disk space; and QuickTime version 5.0.2 or later.
Internet Explorer will be available from Microsoft’s MacTopia Web site.
