Macworld UK Awards 2002 announced

The winners of the Macworld UK Awards 2002 have been named. As reported by Macworld UK , some of the winners of the Readers’ Choice awards, as chosen by the magazine’s readers, were:

  • Best Hardware. Winner: iMac G4. Runners-up: iBook, iPod, Pocket Drive (LaCie), PowerBook G4.
  • Best Software. Winner: Mac OS X. Runners-up: InDesign 2.0 (Adobe), iPhoto, Office v. X (Microsoft), Photoshop (Adobe).

    • Winners of Macworld UK Editors’ Choice awards were:

  • Productivity Hardware. Winner: ColourLaser 21 (Xanté). Runners-up: Acculaser 4000 (Epson), Office Keyboard/Wireless IntelliMouse (Microsoft), Psc 950 all-in-one (Hewlett Packard), Treo 270 (Handspring).
  • Productivity Software. Winner: Office v. X. Runners-up: Acrobat 5.0 (Adobe), FileMaker Pro 5.5 (FileMaker), Norton SystemWorks 2.0 (Symantec), Retrospect Backup 5.0 (Dantz).
  • Best Creative Hardware. Winner: DesignJet 10ps (HP). Runners-up: Cintiq LCD tablet (Wacom), EOS-D30 digital camera (Canon), Iris iProof (Creo), PowerLook 3000 scanner (Umax).
  • Best Creative Software. Winner: InDesign 2.0 (Adobe). Runners-up: LightWave 3D 7.5 (NewTek), Maya for Mac OS X (Alias|Wavefront), PhotoRetouch Pro 1.0 (Binuscan), Photoshop 7.0.
  • Connectivity. Winner: WebShuttle DSL (Hermstedt). Runners-up: Grand Central Pro 3 (Hermstedt), Internet Gateway (Vicomsoft), SpeedTouch 510 (Alcatel), Virtual PC 5.0 (Connectix).
  • Storage. Winner: Remix Pro (Box Clever). Runners-up: FireWire CameraMate (Microtech), FireLite (SmartDisk), LaCie 40xCD-RW (LaCie), Network CD Box (LaCie).
  • Multimedia Hardware. Winner: XLS1 (Canon): Runners-up Cinema HD Display (Apple), DSR-PD150P digital camcorder (Sony), iPod, Formac Studio display (Formac).
  • Multimedia Software. Winner: Final Cut Pro 3. Runners-up: After Effects 5.5 (Adobe), Director 8.5 (Macromedia), DVD Studio Pro 1.5 (Apple), Flash MX (Macromedia).
  • Web Publishing. Winner: Dreamweaver MX/Fireworks MX (Macromedia). Runners-up: BBEdit 6.5 (Bare Bones Software), Flash MX, Freeway 3.5 (SoftPress), GoLive 6.0/LiveMotion Pack (Adobe).
  • Consumer Hardware. Winner: Stylus Photo 950 (Epson). Runners-up: Gallery 1740 LCD display (Formac), iPod, PowerShot G2 digital camera (Canon), WebShuttle DSL (Hermstedt).
  • Consumer Software. Winner: iPhoto. Runners-up: iDVD 2, Portfolio 6.0 (Extensis), Route 66: 2001-2002 (Route 66), Virtual PC 5 (Connectix).
  • Entertainment. Winner: Aliens vs Predator (Infogrames). Runners-up: American McGee’s Alice (Aspyr), Civilization III (Infogrames), Myst III: Exile (Ubi Soft), Myth III: The Wolf Age (Aspyr).
  • Apple Product of the Year. Winner: iMac G4. Runners-up: eMac, iBook, iPod, Xserve.
