FontAgent X is a font management utility. With Insider FontAgent X, you can build libraries containing fonts that have been tested for integrity, assigned meaningful names and organized by font family, according to Rio Sabadicci, president of Insider Software. You can find, clean, rejoin and organize all your fonts on multiple disks. FontAgent checks all resource data for every font file it finds; in doing so, it catches corrupt fonts before they start causing crashes, lock-ups, printing errors, unexpected font substitutions and other problems.
FontAgent X also lets you define font sets that associate fonts from any number of libraries by drag-and-drop. It also lets you activate and deactivate individual fonts and font sets with a single click. There’s a font preview facility that lets you define any text string and display it in any typeface contained in any font library, in any size, without having to activate the font.
Insider UpdateAgent X brings every application on a Mac current with the latest updates released by over 2,000 software vendors. After determining precisely which updaters are required to bring a system up-to-date, UpdateAgent X downloads the updaters over the Internet or copies them from CDs. The program can run automatically at regular intervals, maintains the confidentiality of users’ hard drive contents and provides hot web links to vendors’ Web sites.
The FontAgent X-UpdateAgent X bundle is available for immediate download from Insider’s Web site and costs $89.95 for a single license. FontAgent X runs on any Mac OS X system with at least 3MB of available memory and 3MB of free disk space. UpdateAgent X requires one megabyte of memory to run on the Mac being updated, as well as whatever disk space is required to store any relevant updaters.
