The Kanex Group, which has been developing Mac products for 10 years, has a new product in the works: Air Whisper MP3 player software for Mac OS X. Now in beta testing (it’s up to version 1.0b), Whisper enables playback and browsing through MP3 files, utilizing features of Kanex’s previous MP3 Strip application.
“One of the unique features of the player is a new technology for skins creation, which fully utilizes Mac OS X’s imaging power,” Paul Pen of The Kanex Group said. “We called it ezFFS (easy free form skins), and it allows you to create almost any skin you want, without limiting your imagination.”
Air Whisper is Carbonized to run on Mac OS X and Mac OS 8.6-9.x (with the appropriate CarbonLib extensions installed). It’s always “floating” on the top of the screen and ready for use. Air Whisper includes an hierarchical menu in the album list; sorting by album, Artist or folder name; an automatic album list update for new and deleted tracks; disk/folder selection via drag ‘n drop; keyboard commands for playing tracks and volume adjustment; positioning within a song while it’s being played; CBR (Constant Bit Rate) & VBR (Variable Bit Rate) playback support; ID3 Tags support (v1.0, v1.1, v2.0, v2.2, v2.3, v2.4); and multilingual ID3 Tags support.
The latest beta of Air Whisper (which requires QuickTime 4.1 or later) is available for download. Pricing will be announced when the final version is released.
