The Image Recognition Integrated Systems Group (I.R.I.S.) has released Readiris Pro 7, the latest version of their optical character recognition software that converts paper documents into electronic files.
The newest version of Readiris Pro adds recognition and conversion of scanned business cards that can be exported into contact management software such as AppleWorks 6 and Outlook Express. It also improves its PDF and HTML support and digital camera recognition capabilities.
Readiris Pro 7 offers automatic page orientation detection and recognition of multi-page documents (saved in a single word processing file) and adds support for Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese — for a total of 94 languages.
It’s a Carbonized application — to use it, you’ll need Mac OS 9.x or Mac OS X 10.01 or later (10.1 is recommended), a Power Mac G3 or better, QuickTime 4.0 or higher, 32MB of RAM, and 60MB of free hard disk space. For more details, or to download Readiris Pro 7, go to the I.R.I.S. Web site.
