Ravi Jain’s interactive Web sitcom Three Abreast wraps up this week with “The Very Special Episode.” The online sitcom follows the domestic antics of three friends who share a house in Jamaica Plain, a neighborhood of Boston, Mass.
Developed by Boston artist Ravi Jain, Three Abreast was edited on a Power Mac G4 using Final Cut Pro, and is served up via QuickTime in both “Cinema” and “Comedy Extender” modes. Three Abreast itself started life as a thesis project by Jain during his pursuit of an MFA degree from the Studio for Interrelated Media program at the Mass College of Art.
The “Comedy Extender” itself features dynamically triggered complementary content — things like background notes, links to related information, downloadable material and more.
“The Very Special Episode” marks the seventh and final episode of Three Abreast. It’ll be available for online viewing until mid-July. Jain counts more than 8,000 viewers of Three Abreast so far — counted as actual viewers of the content, as opposed to hits to the Web site.
To view the content you’ll need QuickTime and a high-speed Internet connection.
