is working with American Color Graphics to incorporate American Color publishing technology into the Connect3 Velocity Performance Series software solution.
The Velocity Performance Series allows all participants in the merchandising and advertising workflow to share a common toolset to create, manage, build and publish highly versioned promotions across all customer touchpoints. It’s designed to speed the flow of item messages by combining advanced modules for digital assets, content, item and workflow management, promotions planning, and cross-media publishing into one common server platform and configurable Web-based or thin-client workstation.
The Connect3-American Color solution will combine Connect3’s AMP solutions with American Color’s PageScript versioning-enabled page production technology to help retailers increase the productivity and accuracy of their promotion production processes, according to Rod Moake, vice president of American Color. In addition, this open, standards-based technology will allow retailers to provide a flexible and “plug-compatible” interface between their in-house and outside pre-press operations, he added.
The first new products resulting from this partnership are Velocity PageScript, powered by Connect3’s RetailXML, and the Velocity-compatible Version Navigator for the Mac (the classic operating system, not Mac OS X). They work in tandem to provide a page description language that directly supports Connect3’s versioning technology and a Mac application that allows advertising copy, digital image links and database-linked pricing information to be dynamically transferred to leading page layout programs like Quark Xpress. By adding a Velocity-compatible Version Navigator for the Mac, Connect3 will provide a “seamless link” between merchants laying out pages in Connect3 Velocity modules and the downstream creative and print production processes, said Dale Byrne, president and CEO of Connect3.
