Ambrosia Software has announced that its newest game, Pop-Pop, has gone gold master. The game will ship during Macworld Expo New York, starting on July 17.
Pop-Pop is billed as a “fusion of Arkanoid and Street Fighter,” two classic coin-op arcade games, “with a good spot of PowerPuff girls thrown in for good measure.” It’s the brainchild of Andrew Campbell, the creator of a Mac arcade game original and veritable classic Battle-Girl.
Pop-Pop sports both single and multiplayer modes, and a special “Puzzle Attack” mode. Two player combat is handled locally and over the Internet, and Pop-Pop supports the Mac-only online game service GameRanger to make it easy to find other opponents online. Pop-Pop garnered lots of interest from attendees of Macworld Expo in Tokyo, Japan, where it was shown earlier this year.
Ambrosia Software will be handing out free CDs with Pop-Pop on it at Macworld Expo New York later this month (It’s distributed as shareware, so you’ll ultimately have to register it.) Look for them in booth 1714.
