As MacCentral told readers last month, game developer and publisher Blizzard Entertainment will begin shipping Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos tomorrow, July 3. Tonight and tomorrow afternoon the game’s development team will be making appearances at retail locations in Calif. to sign copies of the game.
Tonight at midnight to 1 AM, the development team will be at Fry’s Electronics in San Jose, Calif., located at 550 E. Brokaw Rd. (The number is 408.487.1000.) If you’re in the Southland, other members of the team will be at the Fry’s store in Fountain Valley, Calif., at 10800 Kalama River Ave. (714.378.4400).
If you’re anxious to get the game but you don’t want to wait up late, you’re in luck, because from 12 PM to 2 PM tomorrow afternoon, Warcraft III developers will also be at the Electronics Boutique at 71 Fortune Dr., Suite 942, in scenic Irvine. The store’s number is 949.450.0728.
Wanna lay your hands on the game quickly but don’t particularly care about meeting the developers? Blizzard said that all Hastings and Fry’s stores nationwide will be open tonight at midnight to 1 AM tomorrow morning to sell copies of the game.
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is the latest installment of Blizzard’s legendary Warcraft franchise. Billed as a “role playing strategy” game instead of as a real-time strategy game like its predecessors, Warcraft III focuses on smaller, more intense troop operations led by heroes of one of four different races in the game.
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is one of the most hotly anticipated PC game releases of the year. Before a single copy shipped, 4.5 million copies of the game were pre-ordered by fans, resellers and distributors worldwide. The game is shipping simultaneously for the Mac and Windows, with both versions on the same CD. It runs natively on Mac OS X.
