B.H.A Corp., a supplier of recording software, and Shecom Corp., a manufacturer of mass storage and multimedia solutions, have partnered to pair B’s Recorder GOLD (Mac compatible software) with Shecom’s new Ikebana line of CD/DVD burners.
The new drives offer write compatibility with DVD+RW/+R drive supports DVD+RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-Video, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-DA, CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, CD Extra, CD-I, Mixed-ModeCD, VideoCD, PhotoCD, CD TEXT and Bootable CD media. Content written to standard DVD+RW media also provides broad playback compatibility with existing CD-ROM drives and set-top DVD players. BHA’s B’s GOLD runs under Mac OS 7.5 or later, but isn’t Carbonized for Mac OS X. Paired with Shecom’s 2X speed DVD+RW/+R recorder, users can burn a 4.7GB disc in roughly 30 minutes.
B’s GOLD takes advantage of today’s drive caching technology to prevent buffer underruns, according to BHA. A “lossless linking” feature, similar to the “multi-session” feature on a standard CD burner, enables users to suspend and continue write sessions to DVD+RW media. BHA’s B’s GOLD offers MP3 encoding and decoding for direct to audio CD burning.
Paired with Shecom’s external burners, B’s Recorder GOLD allows users to plug, play and record interchangeably between FireWire and USB compatible systems without converter cables or going through time-consuming reboot sequences, said Rick Calderon, Sr. IT Specialist for Shecom Computers.
Shecom’s drive costs US$490. Additional DVD+RW media can be purchased for about $16.
