Mac game publisher Aspyr Media today announced that its Mac conversion of The Sims Hot Date has gone gold master and is expected to go into duplication very soon. Aspyr doesn’t have an exact date for when the game will go out the door, but “it will most likely be in a few days,” according to company spokesman Zach Rener.

The Sims Hot Date is an add-on pack for the enormously popular simulated life game, The Sims. Previous Sims expansion packs have focused on equipping your Sims with new goodies or letting them get down and party, but The Sims Hot Date takes the legendary game to a whole new level. You’ll help your favorite sims “get into the romantic swing of things” as you play matchmaker and see if your Sims are made for each other.

The Sims Hot Date adds a new “downtown” area to the world of the Sims, and it’s complete with shops, restaurants, parks and a beach, where your Sims can take strolls, eat candlelit meals together, buy gifts for each other or just cruise around.

The Sims Hot Date also expands the way your Sims will interact with each other — this module adds more than 40 new one-on-one interactions, and adds spicy new characters like the Dream Bot, Lounge Lizard and Femme Fatale. There’s no shortage of new items, either — more than 125 new additions, including a picnic basket, cuddle couch and Lover’s Swing.

System requirements call for Mac OS 8.6 or later, including Mac OS X, 128MB RAM, G3/233MHz or faster, ATI RAGE Pro or better video system (including Nvidia) with at least 4MB VRAM, 600MB hard disk storage, 8x CD-ROM. The Sims Hot Date costs US$29.95.
