Rockville, Md.-based Mac user group Washington Apple Pi plans to hold a “Summer Camp” this July for teens and adults. Scheduled for June, July and August, the weeklong camps will provide intensive training on various Mac related issues.
Two teen camps are being offered. The first one happens during the week of July 8, and runs 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. The emphasis on this camp will be digital still photography and digital video. Campers will get their hands on digital cameras and video cameras and scanners, make slide shows, videos, QuickTime videos, video CDs and DVDs. OS X will be the focus.
The second teen camp happens the week of July 22 and emphasizes publication and Web design. “Campers will learn how to make flyers, invitations, banners, newsletters, greeting cards, scrapbooks and web pages to convey their message. Special emphasis will be given to composition, the audience and new technologies,” said director and teacher Pat Fauquet.
Washington Apple Pi members pay $300 for each week of camp; non-members are charged $400 instead. No more than 8 campers will be accepted for each session. You can sign up online.
Two adult camp sessions will also be held. The Adult Photo and Video Camp happens the week of June 17, and Washington Apple Pi will also hold a second session during the week of August 5. The adult camps run 10:00 am to 3:00 pm each day.
Similar to the teen camp, adults will also get their hands on still and video digital equipment and will make a variety of media. Post-production work, composition, lighting and sound will also be emphasized.
The Adult Publication and Web Design camp runs either June 24 through June 28 or July 29 through August 2. As with the teen camp, adults will get their hands on software that will help them craft printed and Web-based products.
Adult camps run $250 for members and $350 for non-members, and they’re similarly limited to 8 campers.
