CTM Development has released a public beta of the next version (4.0) of PowerMail, their US$49 e-mail application for the Mac. PowerMail is natively supported both on Mac OS X (Carbon) and Mac OS 8.6 to 9.2.1 (Classic).
The latest beta version delivers enhancements in the user interface on Mac OS X, as well as Mac OS 9; advanced management options for POP3 servers; SSL support for IMAP, POP3 and SMTP; an enhanced address book; a text clippings feature; and more, according to the folks at CTM Development. The public beta is now available as a single disk image containing both X and Classic versions. English and French user interfaces are also included and selected automatically based on the operating system language. Japanese and German versions are due soon.
PowerMail 4.0 public beta expires on July 31. A new public beta with a later expiration date will be made available in case the final version is delayed beyond this date.
PowerMail 4.0 public beta can be downloaded from the public beta Web site. Beta-testing feedback can be submitted using an online form.
