Brushfire, a cross platform tool, detects and organizes FileMaker Pro script errors, details and cross-reference information from all files of a FileMaker Pro solution. With Brushfire, users debug, cleanup and document their FileMaker Pro based solutions conveniently and quickly, Russell Kohn, president of Chaparral, told MacCentral. Version 2 adds complete support for FileMaker Pro 6.0 and retains the “blazing fast” performance of prior versions, he added.
FileMaker Pro 6.0 began shipping today. See our Monday report for details.
One of the more significant features added to FileMaker Pro 6 is support for XML. Brushfire 2 is designed to take advantage of these features, Kohn said. Summary data is provided in both XHTML and XML format, allowing end-users to customize and incorporate Brushfire results within their FileMaker Pro 6 systems.
Brushfire 2 is expected to be available for electronic download in mid-August. Pricing hasn’t yet been determined. If you buy Brushfire 1.5 between now and then, you’re eligible for a free upgrade. Current users may upgrade and cross-grade. Free sample Brushfire analyses and a free product demo are also available from the Chaparral Web site. The product requires a Power Mac, Mac OS 8.6 – 9.x, or Mac OS X in Classic mode (it’s not Mac OS X native), FileMaker 5.0 or later, and a CSS-1 Compatible Internet Browser such as Internet Explorer 5.
