San Francisco, Calif.-based software developer Tex9 plans to release a plug in for its iTunes clone for Linux, xTunes, that will enable the digital music player software to interact with Apple iPod devices. So says Matthew Broersma in a new ZDNet article entitled Linux tries iPod on for size.
The Tex9 xTunes software depends on using the latest Linux kernel, and iPod users will have to have a FireWire-equipped system running Linux, obviously. The software is presently in beta testing and is expected to be released soon.
Broersma reported that Tex9 would charge a nominal fee for the plug-in, while requiring no fee for the xTunes software itself.
