XLR8, the folks who specialize in Mac expansion products and upgrades, are now bundling Econ Technologies’ ImageCaster with their InterView 2.1 product. ImageCaster is a Webcam product built exclusively for Mac OS X. See our June 20 article for details.
InterView Media Capture Software and Cabling lets users import analog video and audio into any USB-equipped Mac. It supports real-time video at resolutions up to 320×240, snapshots at resolutions up to 640×480 and supports both NTSC and PAL video formats. With it, you can capture video and output quality small files that can be imported into iMovie or captured by Final Cut Pro. See our April 17 article for more info.
This new ImageCaster-InterView package delivers a Mac OS X Webcasting solution compatible with almost any video source for any Mac OS X computer, according to Joseph Japes, Econ’s director of marketing and quality assurance.
InterView 2.1 offers both Mac OS X and QuickTime 6 Compatibility: QuickTime Pro 5 is also included. InterView now supports delivery via MPEG-4 using QuickTime 6 Broadcaster. Strata Videoshop 4.5 is included to provide pro level features for movie editing.
ImageCaster ships with all new InterView 2.1 purchases and upgrades. Owners of the InterView 1.0 or Interview 2.0 (previous to Mac OS X support) can upgrade to version 2.1 by following the directions on the XLR8 site. Their device will need to be upgraded by XLR8. Owners can access the upgrade form on XLR8’s Web site. The cost of the upgrade is US$24.95, plus shipping and handling. The program is available only in North America directly from XLR8.
