Sybase Inc. today announced its Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) Adopter Program. The company said that Sybase ASE 12.5 is the first major enterprise-class relational database management system to ship to Mac OS X developers.
The Early Adopter Program provides free use of ASE 12.5 on Mac OS X with free newsgroup support starting this week — Wednesday, July 17, 2002, until the product is generally available in September.
Sybase Enterprise Solutions Division Dr. Raj Nathan said that Mac users have up until now been overlooked by enterprise-level RDBMS software, a situation his company is happy to remedy. “Sybase provides a cost efficient, enterprise-class data management technology that answers the performance, security and scalability demands of mission-critical enterprise applications,” said Nathan.
Sybase ASE 12.5 includes XML Management Package, which provides developers with support for Java and XML.
