CMS Peripherals has announced a new version of its ABSplus backup system, bootable for Mac OS X. The new system features a redesigned chassis with shock mounting, as well.
A FireWire-based system equipped with an internal hard-drive, the ABSplus automatically launches a backup when the drive is plugged in. The system features a “quick install” software setup with “express” and advanced settings choices. It can alternately be used as an additional storage system. CMS said the system is rugged, too — it can withstand a non-operating shock of more than 1000 Gs.
Look for the new ABSplus to ship in August for a suggested retail price starting at US$299. It’ll be available in capacities from 20 to 60GB.
