Digital asset management solution developer Canto got its week at Macworld Conference & Expo off with a bang with a trio of new product announcements.
Cumulus HELIOS Companion
Canto is developing Cumulus HELIOS Companion, a product which integrates Cumulus 5.5.1 with EtherShare 3.1 and EtherShare OPI 2.5. The new product is expected to ship in September.
Cumulus HELIOS Companion combines Cumulus, Canto’s digital asset management system, with HELIOS, a print server and server-based image replacement technology. It automatically synchronizes Cumulus catalogs and HELIOS EtherShare and PC Share volumes when new files are stored or existing ones are changed. Records and categories are automatically created as well, once files are saved in “watched” folders on the HELIOS server. Cumulus’ own asset records are also automatically updated when files are edited, renamed or moved.
Expect to see the new product emerge in September with a price of US$999 for up to 20 Helios users, and licensing to rise from there to US$2,999 for more than 40 users.
Cumulus JAVA Classes
Canto has also introduced Cumulus JAVA Classes, which integrates, extends and customize Cumulus Enterprise and Workgroup solutions. The software provides a “faceless” client to the Cumulus server, enabling developers to create JavaServlets, JavaServer pages, and Java applications directly on the server itself.
Cumulus JAVA Classes come with 47 unique classes, documentation and sample code, and runs on Mac OS X. They’re compatible with Cumulus 5.5.1 or later.
YaWah ImageExpress for Cumulus
Canto and YaWah.com also announced YaWah ImageExpress for Cumulus, an optional product for Cumulus 5.5 that enables users to zoom into and download images in multiple file formats and resolutions via a Web browser.
ImageExpress works with Cumulus Web Publisher or Cumulus Internet Client, allowing users to publish catalogs of digital assets to the Web. Once Cumulus locates the asset, ImageExpress enables users to change various attributes tot he image: Thumbnail size, image quality, zoom to check detail, or download the image in various formats.
