Intelli Innovations, makers of business software for the Mac, have updated Barcode Producer, their vector barcode generator, to version 1.5, which adds optical character recognition (OCR) typefaces.
OCR fonts are used for the human-readable portion of the barcode in many applications, and recommended in most symbology specifications, according to Paul Scandariato, chief technical officer of Intelli Innovations. Barcode Producer 1.5 includes OCR-A and OCR-B typefaces in both PostScript and TrueType formats, as part of the “OCR FontPack” included with every Barcode Producer 1.5 license.
The latest version also includes ISSN barcode support, including self-constructing fields for the ISSN number, sequence variant (number of times the price, name, etc., of the periodical has changed) and issue number. JAN-8 and JAN-13 support makes Barcode Producer more savvy with barcodes used for retail operations in Japan.
Barcode Producer’s new ISBN Assistant helps users create accurate Bookland EAN barcodes (the type of barcode found on the back of a book), including the properly formatted ISBN and pricing information, Scandariato said. Plus, there’s further optimization of Barcode Producer’s vector EPS output to create the smallest possible barcodes for fast rendering, he added.
Barcode Producer 1.5 is available from Intelli Innovations for US$89.99. Multiple user licenses/discounts are available. Upgrades from any previous version are $24.95. If you bought Barcode Producer on or after June 17, you get a free upgrade. A demo version is also available at the Barcode Producer home page.
