Apple has released AirPort 4.0.6 Firmware Update, an update intended solely for “Snow”-colored AirPort Base Station systems — this update is not compatible with the older “Graphite”-colored Base Stations.
According to Apple, the new firmware update improves scanning for base stations across local subnets, thus improving the ability for computers to find base stations while plugged into the LAN port. It’s also compatible with Internet service providers (ISPs) or other home router products that use private 10.0.0.x or 10.0.1.x addresses in Bridge mode.
Also, the new firmware update enables compatibility with Rendezvous-enabled applications in Mac OS X 10.2. Rendezvous is Apple’s new zero-configuration IP networking technology that’s already got the attention of peripheral makers like Epson, Lexmark and HP.
