In his latest piece for Apple, resident game guy Brad Cook takes a look at Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, the forthcoming 3D action game set in the Star Wars universe. The game is coming to the Macintosh soon courtesy of Aspyr Media and Westlake Interactive.
Set a few years after the events depicted in the original trilogy of Star Wars films, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is focused on Kyle Katarn, a mercenary working for the New Republic and an ex-Jedi Knight who has turned his back on his Jedi Order ways.
Katarn, a reluctant hero, is slowly drawn into an intriguing story that has him fighting the last remnants of the evil Galactic Empire as he once again gets in touch with the Force and his Jedi training.
“The game features 24 single-player levels that span 8 environments, including several from the movies,” said Cook. “You’ll get the opportunity to revisit not only Yavin’s moon (home of the Rebel base in the first Star Wars film; in one level you can visit the war room where they tracked the progress of the Death Star) but also such familiar locales as Bespin’s Cloud City.”
In fact, you’ll also interact with characters seen in the movie, said Cook — including the Rebel leader Mon Mothma, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, and Lando Calrissian (voiced by Billy Dee Williams, who also portrayed the character in the Star Wars films).
