Raining Data has updated Omnis Studio to version 3.2. You can download it now from the company’s Web site or wait until the end of the month when it will ship on CD.
Omnis Studio is a high-performance visual RAD tool that provides a component-based environment for building graphical user interfaces (GUI) within e-commerce, database and client/server applications. When used with the company’s Web Client plug-in technology, Omnis Studio allows the development of client/server relationships over the Internet using the common Web browsers.
Development and deployment of Omnis Studio applications can occur simultaneously in Mac OS, Linux and Windows environments without changing the application code. According to Omnis, this portability is achieved because the company utilizes a highly optimized interpreter engine to execute the object-oriented application at runtime.
New features in version 3.2 include enhanced Mac OS X support; Oracle9i and Informix 9.1 support; a new multithreaded Data Access Module (DAM) for Omnis SQL; sub-forms for Web client remote forms; Web client method debugging; Netscape 6.2 support; Blowfish encryption; and XML support.
Omnis Studio 3.2 costs US$149 for the standard edition; you can purchase it at the Raining Data online store.
