“XLR8 Inc. has closed its doors and is no longer in business. There is no technical or warranty support available. We apologize for any inconvenience.” That’s the note posted on Mac peripheral and upgrade maker XLR8, Inc.’s Web site home page.
Founded in 1998, Norcross, Ga.-based XLR8 Inc. had focused on the development of Macintosh processor upgrades and peripherals, and its hardware products were available through a variety of online, mail-order and brick and mortar resellers.
Products in the XLR8 line included the MACh and CarrierZIF series upgrades, designed for a wide variety of Power Mac models. The company also manufactured the InterView, a USB-based video capture solution. XLR8 had updated InterView in mid-July with a slew of new features and functionality, including QuickTime 6 support.
