Default Folder X, St. Clair Software’s utility that enhances the Mac OS X’s Finder’s open-save dialog box, has been updated to version 1.6.
Default Folder X 1.6 works correctly in the pre-release version of Mac OS 10.2, so should work just fine when “Jaguar” is released on Aug. 24. When you select a Favorite or Recent folder that’s on a server, Default Folder X will now automatically connect to the server if necessary.
The Get Info command can now use XRay or FileExaminer as well as Super Get Info for expanded Get Info capabilities. Default Folder now works properly in AppleScripts and QuickTime import/export modules. Some bugs and glitches have been fixed.
Default Folder X attaches a toolbar to the right side of the Open and Save dialogs in any Carbon application. The toolbar gives you fast access to various folders and commands. You can click on the buttons to go to your favorite and recently used folders, manage the folders and files shown in the list, and make changes to your settings.
Default Folder X 1.6 can be downloaded from the St. Clair Web site. Version 1.6 is a free update for registered users. For others the price is US$25.
