With Enterprise Pty Ltd has announced Witango 5.0 as a public beta. The new version has already been privately tested. With Enterprise called the public beta “a sneak peek” at the new version, which is scheduled for an official launch next month.
Witango is an XML-based Web application system. It combines two discrete elements — the Development Studio and the Application Server.
Witango 5.0 will offer new features including integration to POP3 and IMAP4; improved multitasking with support for pre-emptive threading; better debugging and improved error reporting, trapping, and full metastack trace; open interface to Witango client (WISP); customization and searching of Snippets; additional views in the Development Studio; and numerous other small improvements.
The company noted that it’s continuing to develop Linux and Solaris versions of the Witango Application Server and expects to launch them before the end of the year.
