Berlin, Germany-based audio software developer Native Instruments today noted that its powerful sampler software Kontakt will soon be available for the Macintosh. The company said that Kontakt 1.1 would be released at the end of August.
Designed to be “the most powerful sampler ever created,” contact supports up to 256 stereo voices per instance and utilizes a granular resynthesis engine that provides you with the ability to compose with pitch and timestretch independently. Features include graphical breakpoint envelops, an integrated loop editor, analog-modeled filters, visually displayed modulation, and more than 3GB of sounds in various styles and categories. Kontakt can be used as a VST plug-in.
Kontakt 1.1 gains more than just Mac support, as well. It also adds import support for EXS, HALion and SDII files, features an improved auto-search function and gains other enhancements too.
Provided on a hybrid CD-ROM containing both Mac and Windows versions, Kontakt 1.1 will also be released as a free crossgrade for Windows users who want the Mac version. Kontakt carries a retail price of US$399.
