A new version of Yahoo’s Messenger beta chat software is now available for download.
Changes in this version include the addition of webcam support. Super Webcam makes it possible for you to add video to your chat, at up to 20 frames per second and at 320×240 resolution. Yahoo noted that this feature is cross-platform, also.
If you’re a fan of smileys, the number of emoticons available in this release has been nearly doubled, and the way you select them has been improved as well, according to Yahoo. Yahoo Messenger also sports a revised Instant Message window with a new toolbar and some other changes that give you more room for chat. OS X users also gain an anti-aliased text option.
Separate downloads are available for Mac OS 8.6/9 and Mac OS X. System requirements call for a PowerPC-equipped Mac running Mac OS 8.6 or later (CarbonLib 1.3.1 or later is necessary for Mac OS 8.6 or 9).
