Ted Landau — the author of “Sad Macs, Bombs, and Other Disasters” and founder of the MacFixIt Web site — has a new book, “Mac OS X Disaster Relief” (ISBN: 0-201-78869-1) from Peachpit Press.
The book, which costs US$34.99, starts with the basics, first explaining why you might consider switching to Mac OS X, then detailing the installation process (and problems involved), and finally providing an overview of the operating system itself. For the real adventurous, there is also a chapter on Unix for Mac OS X.
“Technically Speaking” sidebars provide advanced users with in-depth coverage of some of the thornier technical issues and “Take Note” sidebars provide background information on a variety of topics. The book also contains lots of cross-references.
