Difusi Corp.’s Speaker Grilles have been offered as an aesthetic and practical enhancement for “Quicksilver” Power Mac G4s, but up until now you’ve had to buy them by the pair. Now the company is offering them separately.
The grilles are plastic inserts that attach without using adhesives to the opening on the front of Power Mac G4 systems. When Apple revised the Power Mac G4 with its “QuickSilver” look, they left the front panel open where its speaker is. That’s great as long as you don’t have kids that like to jab things inside the opening, like pencils or fingers.
Difusi’s grilles were the answer. Molded in clear acrylic material, the grilles attach to the speaker openings via neoprene gaskets that hold the grilles in place without marking or defacing the front of the Power Mac itself. But before now, you had to buy a pair of them to get them. Now Difusi is offering each grille individually at a price of US$9.95 per grille.
What’s more, the company is working on new grilles for other Mac models that incorporate the open-speaker design. It said it’s gearing up to manufacture grilles for eMacs, iMac Pro Speakers, and the recently updated Power Mac G4. Look for the new speaker grilles to be available within the next three weeks or so.
