Addonics Technologies has announced the Pocket Ultra DigiDrive (UDD), a flash media storage reader which it says supports nine of the most popular formats used by digital devices today.
The Pocket UDD can read PC Card hard drives and ATA Flash cards, and Addonics has available an adapter to enable the Pocket UDD to read CompactFlash I and CompactFlash II cards, or a 4-in-1 DigiAdapter that supports those formats and Smart Media, Memory Stick, Secure Digital Card, MultiMedia Card and MicroDrive formats as well.
Two models of Pocket UDD are available — a USB 2.0 version for US$89, and a FireWire version of $119. A version bundled with 4-in-1 DigiAdapter costs $149 for the USB 2.0 version or $179 for the FireWire version.
The Pocket UDD works with Mac OS X, according to Addonics, as well as various flavors of Windows and Linux. The USB 2.0 version operates at slower USB 1.1 speeds unless you have a third-party USB 2.0 card installed in your Mac.
