Mac game publisher Aspyr Media today announced that its conversion of Ghost Recon has gone beta, an important milestone on its way to completion. Aspyr’s forthcoming game combines the original Ghost Recon with the Desert Siege expansion pack.
A 3D action game developed by Red Storm Entertainment and published for the PC by Ubi Soft, Ghost Recon is the most recent Mac conversion of a popular gaming franchise that earlier appeared on the Mac in games like Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear, under the aegis of MacSoft. This is the first game in the series to be published by Aspyr.
Developed by the game studio owned by military thriller author Tom Clancy, Ghost Recon and its expansion pack, Desert Siege puts you in charge of the “Ghosts,” an elite team of military specialists who approach dangerous situations covertly with the latest in sophisticated military hardware. The game takes place in the near future, in Russia and East Africa.
Ghost Recon is a squad-level tactical combat game. You determine who joins your team depending on what specialties are needed, and then you outfit them and plan the mission. The game features multiplayer modes in addition to single player missions.
Preliminary system requirements call for a G3/450MHz or faster, 128MB RAM, 1GB hard disk space, ATI RAGE 128 with 16MB VRAM or better.
