Palm Beach, Fl.-based Rampell Software LLC has offered its first public beta release of Systeris Remote, a new utility that enables you to remotely control your copy of Microsoft Entourage or Outlook Express, as well as iTunes and AppleScript. The software works via a standard Web browser.
After installing Systeris Remote on your computer, you can remotely access those applications on that Mac from anywhere else using a Web browser. You can check appointments, send and read e-mails, look up phone numbers, or anything else that can be done with Entourage or Outlook Express. It’s uniquely different from a Webmail interface because Systeris Remote is providing you with remote access to your computer, not to a common online e-mail or calendar database.
To use Systeris Remote from another computer, you simply start up a Web browser, entire the IP address of your computer along with a username and password, and then you can log on. If your computer utilizes a dynamic IP address and you can’t remember it, you can connect to Systeris.com and be forwarded to the current IP address by using your user ID and password.
Systeris Remote requires Mac OS X 10.1 or higher, and a broadband Internet connection is recommended for optimal speed.
