The database connectivity driver makers at OpenLink Software Inc., have made their Oracle Driver for ODBC available for Mac OS X, including 10.2 (“Jaguar”).
The new Oracle Driver provides connectivity to Oracle versions 8 through 9i, for ODBC compliant Cocoa, Carbon and Darwin-based applications. It installs with OpenLink’s Aqua-based iODBC Administrator, and other ODBC utilities.
The product ensures that Mac OS X developers have access to the same infrastructure for developing database independent applications and drivers on the Mac, as they do in other ODBC-supporting operating environments, said Andrew Hill, director of technology Evangelism at OpenLink Software. These drivers enable immediate, direct connectivity to Oracle database servers hosted on any platform, without installation of any other components, he added.
