Woodland Hills, Calif.-based KVM peripheral maker Gefen Inc. today introduced the newest addition to its ex-tend-it line — the USB Switcher. The device enables two computers to use one digital monitor, keyboard and mouse.
The USB Switcher sports twin DVI-I and USB input ports, along with mini stereo audio input connectors as well. The device outputs to DVI-I, mini-stereo and USB as well. The system can be operated from its front panel or from a remote control unit sold separately.
Gefen said that the ability to operate two computers from a single keyboard, monitor and mouse workstation is useful in animation and programming, design, A/V production and other professional environments. An upgraded version of Gefen’s previously offered USB-241, the USB Switcher features a more streamlined design that occupies only one rack level and can fit in most pro workstations, according to Gefen.
Available now, the USB Switcher costs US$299.
