Mac peripheral and upgrade maker MCE Technologies LLC has expanded its iBook hard drive upgrade service program by offering a 60GB hard drive upgrade. They’ll transfer data from your original hard drive and also provide an option to trade in the original drive if it’s in good condition.
MCE president Arnie Ramirez explained that some iBooks are hampered by low-capacity 3, 6 or 10GB hard drives that are difficult to upgrade, even for some technically oriented users. As a result, MCE offers the hard drive upgrade service program.
MCE said that the 60GB hard drive offers data transfer rates and access times as fast or faster than the original stock drives. The drives carry a 3-year warranty. The new 60GB option joins 10, 20, 30, and 40GB upgrade plans already in place. Prices range from US$199 to $499 depending on capacity.
To do the swap, you need to send your iBook in to MCE Technologies’ facility in Irvine, Calif. Turnaround time is 2 to 3 business days.
