German game developer Titan Computer has announced that it’s working on a new 3D action game called Rage Hard. Based on the Claws 3D engine, what makes Rage Hard stand apart is that it’ll be out for the Mac first (and it’ll be Mac OS X-native, of course).
Billed as a multiplayer tactical combat shooter, Rage Hard eschews the world of mercenaries and military commandos for a gritty urban environment populated by street punks, gang members, organized crime thugs, corrupt police and other bad guys. Players will get to choose from an arsenal of real-world weapons like pump-action shotguns, semi-automatic rifles and machine guns, sniper rifles and more — 20 in all.
Titan said that the new game’s engine sports particle effects, detailed 3D objects, dynamic lighting and shadows, support for up to 32 players in four different multiplayer modes, and much more.
Details about Rage Hard’s release schedule and publishing arrangements are still sketchy (and some links on the Web site are apparently not yet active), but the Web site sports links to screenshots and more information about the game.
A developer of Mac OS, Amiga and Linux products, Titan Computer’s previous efforts include Mac conversions of the Lithtech engine-derived 3D mecha combat game Shogo: Mobile Armor Division and the real time strategy game AlienNations.
