Chimera 0.5 — the Mac OS X Web browser built on Netscape’s Gecko engine — has been released. This is a general release, as opposed to the nightly builds that are available.
Chimera utilizes a Cocoa interface and has been optimized to be a small, simple and fast browser for Mac OS X.
Chimera’s developers note that the focus of this release has been on stability and bug fixes, with a few new features and performance optimizations too. The release gains compatibility with Mac OS X 10.2 in plug-ins, Java, copy & paste and drag & drop operations. Problems have been resolved with disappearing downloaded files and truncated Binhex files and performance has been improved with large numbers of tabs.
