Wiltshire, UK-based Sherston Software has announced the release of a new CD-ROM aimed at kids ages 4-6 called Teddy Bears’ Picnic. The new title is designed to promote early literacy, numeracy, and other important skills.

Kids join the teddy bears on a picnic as they navigate through seven activities, each with three levels of difficulty. Each activity focuses on different learning objectives — handling data, reading and using high-frequency words, recognizing coins and solving money problems, sequencing, phonemic awareness and understanding directional language.
Teddy Bears’ Picnic also provides parents and educators with a Pupils’ Records section that records the number of times a user has completed an activity, and the percentage of first-time correct answers.
The CD-ROM includes printable resource sheets so you can do related work away from the computer, along with notes that provide ideas on how the resource sheets can be used.
Available on hybrid CD-ROM for Windows and Mac OS, Teddy Bears’ Picnic is priced at £45 (excluding VAT) for a single-user copy. Multi-user licenses are also available. The title requires a 233MHz or faster PowerPC processor, 32MB RAM, CD-ROM drive, Mac OS 8.1 or later, 16-bit color graphics. It doesn’t run natively in OS X, as it was developed using Macromedia Director.
