Download Deputy enables you to organize, schedule and queue up files for downloading. Its developer claims that Download Deputy 5 downloads files “faster than any other Mac download tool, period.”
New features in Download Deputy 5 include support in Mac OS X for up to 24 simultaneous downloads, each with up to eight segments (the Mac OS 9 version is limited to 12 downloads, also with up to eight segments each). Also new is MirrorMagic, a technology which searches out mirror sites for the downloads you’re looking for. You can also set the software to download to multiple folders, and you can use the Mac OS system keychain to maintain user ID and password combinations. Download Deputy 5 for Mac OS X now includes a Contextual Menu plug-in, as well.
Available for download as a demo version, Download Deputy 5 costs US$24 to register. Version 4.x users can upgrade for $12.
