Already comprised of heavy-hitters including ATI, Evans and Sutherland, SGI and Sun Microsystems, The Khronos Group has been expanded to include new contributing members like Nvidia Corp., Texas Instruments, Vicarious Visions and others.
OpenGL ES is a proposed standard for advanced embedded graphics. It builds on technology already in the existing OpenGL standard — used widely in computer graphics and adopted by Apple, as well. OpenGL ES proposes to define a subset of the existing API “that will enable the lightest weight interface between software and hardware.”
OpenML, meanwhile, is a cross-platform standard programming environment intended for media content creation and playback. The standard offers methodologies for capturing, transporting, displaying and synchronizing digital media, including 2D and 3D graphics, audio, video, as well as i/o and networking.
