Blue World Communications Inc. has announced plans to stop sales and support of the Lasso Web Data Engine 3.x product by year’s end.

Lasso Web Data Engine 3.x has been in circulation since the fall of 1998. Since then, the technology has evolved to Lasso Professional 5. Blue World will soon begin shipping Lasso Professional 6. Blue World said that Lasso Web Data Engine 3.x would continue to be sold and supported through the end of 2002. In 2003, the company will only support users of that engine on support plans, and anticipates stopping that by mid-2003.
Blue World CEO Bill Doerrfeld cited the news as a reason for Lasso customers to begin thinking about upgrading. “We encourage Lasso Web Data Engine 3.x customers to step up to the latest Web Data Engine, namely, Lasso Professional 5,” he said. “And if version 3 customers upgrade to version 5 before the upcoming release of version 6, they’ll receive the upgrade to Lasso Professional 6 for free.”
