VanGuard provides control of the online test-taking environment, enabling access to only approved online and desktop resources appropriate to the test, according to Vantage’s COO Scott Elliot. By using the technology, schools and administrators can disable a student’s access to any Web site, hot keys, menus and right-click mouse functions during the administration of an online assessment. VanGuard eliminates any possibility of students using outside computer-based information that could comprise the legitimacy of the assessment, assuring the validity of online testing, Elliott said.
The VanGuard 3.0 environment provides a complete “lock down” browser environment to enable delivery of high-stakes testing applications, he added. With VanGuard, users can only access the assessment application delivered within VanGuard and can’t exit the VanGuard environment to surf the Web or use other applications. In addition to high security, Vanguard 3.0 provides XML support, as well as Math ML to offer greater functionality for mathematics applications.
The new version offers enhanced printing support and the ability for client-specific and product-specific branding. VanGuard 3.0 also contains an auto-updating feature for easier deployment of application enhancements and expansion.
